The Social Security Inquiry Tool was adopted
Outcome achieved
The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) adopted the Social Security Inquiry (SSI) tool for social protection system monitoring and for reporting on SDGs 1.3.1. The tool will positively influence policy dialogue and decision making through provision of key statistics and data on social protection system.
ILO's contribution to the outcome
Through the SPPFM project, the ILO provided technical support towards use of the SSI monitoring tool to report on social protection system.
Gender equality & non-discrimination
The ILO commissioned a study to inform extension of coverage to informal economy workers. The study has a strong component on inclusion of gender issues on extension of coverage to inform policy formulation on legal, financing, benefit design and administrative aspects for coverage extension.
Partnerships
The ILO collaborated with UNICEF and the World Bank in the initiatives to strengthen the Ethiopian Social Protection system. With UNICEF, under the EC DG-INTPA project, specific work related to the production of the vulnerability assessment with respect to COVID-19 and a socio-economic impact analysis of COVID-19 in Ethiopia and mobile-based monitoring applications to track COVID-19 top-up cash transfers for the Urban Productive Safety Net Programme (UPSNP) clients was developed for MoLSA.
